“Where freedom of choice matters”
The Federation of English Karate Organisations (FEKO) joined the organisation in 2005, shortly after the initial global body (then WUKO) was established.
Key details surrounding our integration include:
- Instant Alignment: When the international federation fractured from the World Karate Confederation (WKC) to form WUKO in May 2005, FEKO immediately supported the new movement.
- First Wave Status: FEKO was officially recognised as one of the very first international members to join the newly formed body, backing its mission to provide open, multi-style karate competition without single-country restrictions.
- Seamless 2008 Transition: When the organisation officially restructured and rebranded from WUKO to the World Union of Karate-Do Federations (WUKF) in late 2008, FEKO signed the necessary support letters to remain an unbroken, core affiliate member.
- Milestone Contributions: Because of their early involvement in 2005, FEKO officials played a vital role in building the European refereeing infrastructure. This integration culminated in FEKO's Chief Referee becoming the very first female WUKF European Referee.
Today, FEKO International remains fully active as a core, long-standing English member within the WUKF global database.
